As a former financial planner, I’ve always been interested in the effects of compounding and how small but consistent actions can really add up over time. My friend, Dan had a successful career in software sales, but got sick of the corporate hierarchy and rat race, so after finding the SFM he quit his job to work for himself online.

Ever been on stage before? Having lots of people staring at you can be scary.

Dan’s first public speaking event happened to be in front of hundreds of people and took place only six months into his new online journey. Six months earlier, heÂ was literally just starting out, with no experience at all. HeÂ had no clue what heÂ was doingÂ and was afraidÂ to show his face on a live webinar, let alone be on stage!

But he got up there and talked about the power of consistency and the compounding that results;Â taking small, consistent actions that often push us outside of our comfort zones, but really add up in the end.

Each action might seem insignificant on it’s own; learning how to create an email list, joining a live webinar and asking questions, or maybe sharing something that you learnedÂ with people who know even less than you do.

Dan quickly became one of the newer all stars in the SFM community, so he was asked to chat with the convention after being given an award and then he decided to film a quick video addressing those who think this online way of life is too good to be true.

With only 2.5 months worth of living expenses left to his name he was very afraid and experienced unbelievable amounts of stress. After processing the negative emotion he decided that his mindset was going to be the key to succeeding online. As I’m sure you can understand, he didn’t want to go crawling back to his former employer, asking for a job.

Dan shares the steps that he took in order to change his mindset from one of fear to one of hopeful expectation and knowing that he is part of something bigger, the natural flow of life and an ever-changing industry that allows people the chance to work for themselves.
