Retiring can be scary and especially boring, which is why it’s so important to continue to learn and to keep your brain active. You’re not dead. You’re retired! You’re not the generation that grew up using computers, and learning to use technology can be intimidating. The good news is that mentors like me exist and I’ll even help you for free! The internet has totally changed the way we make money and it’s now possible for anyone to generate income 24/7 from the comfort of home.

The first step is to brainstorm all the topics you know about or would be interested in knowing more about and then pinpoint several to focus on. What problems or issues need to be solved within those topics? What demand or need is going unfulfilled? If you have a product to sell, Etsy is a great marketplace to sell your goods. My mother-in-law is retired and paints, and then sells her paintings on Etsy. She’ll not get rich doing this, but she enjoys it and it occupies her spare time. Research all companies that sell products/services within the topics that interest you and email them to find out which ones have affiliate relationships, where you can get paid for connecting people to those companies. You can view my detailed post on how to start a successful online business. You don’t need to have a product or service to sell. Leverage the infrastructure that other people have spent time and money to build and connect potential buyers to them. That way there is very little cost to start your new online business venture.

If you don’t have a Facebook account, get one! Once you connect to people all over the world, you’ll have a better understanding of how you’ll connect products or services to potential buyers. You don’t have to harass friends or family, the internet is full of people who are looking for what you offer or know about.

YouTube is an even better way to connect to others. Whatever you’re interested in learning more about, search for it within YouTube and you’ll find normal people who have filmed answers to your questions. They build a list of subscribers to their channels and then mention products that subscribers can click through and buy. That person then gets paid as an affiliate. Much of what I know about aquaponic gardening came from watching YouTube videos.

It doesn’t have to cost lots of money to start making money. Social media sites, like Facebook and YouTube are free, and you can start generating interest in what you have to offer there. I can show you an internet business in a box.
